The Town Board of the Town of Schaghticoke met in regular session on May 13, 2026 at the Town Hall, 290 Northline Drive, Melrose, at 6:30 p.m.
Present: Supervisor Salisbury; Councilmen Akin, Fogarty, Rustin, and Ward.
Approval of prior minutes

Reports from department heads
Shawn Hayes, Highway Superintendent — highway, water, and sewer report. He discussed repair work on pipes and cracks in the roadways, and reported that the Akin Road bridge repair is all set, the Barton Road bridge is still awaiting a quote for full repair, and steps are being taken on the Grant Hollow bridge. On water and sewer: three water-main breaks have been repaired in Grant Hollow since January 4, 2026, and the sewer grinder units in both Hemstreet Park and Pleasantdale were repaired.
Chris Kelly, Town Historian — reported on the 250th Anniversary regarding the 14th Albany County Militia.
Financial
Bills from the Town Clerk — $193,461.04. To approve the bills from the Town Clerk’s Scheduled Payment Report dated May 13, 2026. Resolution: Fogarty · Second: Ward · Ayes: All · Nays: None.

Public comment
- A Riley Road resident raised safety concerns about severe erosion on the one-way section of the road.
- A Meadowview Road resident raised concerns about vehicles speeding and asked about a flashing speed sign to deter it; Councilman Ward said he would contact the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office.
- A Pleasantdale resident raised ongoing concerns about excessive noise from a neighboring property.
