The Town Board of the Town of Schaghticoke met in regular session on June 10, 2026 at the Town Hall, 290 Northline Drive, Melrose, at 6:30 p.m.
Present: Supervisor Salisbury; Councilmen Akin, Fogarty, Rustin, and Ward.
Approval of prior minutes
To accept the minutes of the May 13, 2026 meeting. Resolution: Akin · Second: Ward · Ayes: All · Nays: None.
Reports from department heads
Highway Superintendent Shawn Hayes was unable to attend and submitted his report, which Supervisor Salisbury read on his behalf:
- A 150-foot drainage pipe was installed to improve drainage at the end of Shepard Lane.
- The town’s dirt roads have been graded and treated with calcium chloride.
- Repair work on the Grant Hollow bridge will start soon.
- Paving starts next week on Pinewoods Road, Mineral Springs Road, and Hansen Road.
- The water and sewer report noted nothing significant.
Chris Kelly, Town Historian, had a prior engagement and submitted her report. On Saturday, June 13, she will attend the Strawberry Festival at the Schaghticoke Fair grounds alongside Schaghticoke Village historian Linda Bunk, displaying a poster highlighting local soldiers who served in the Revolutionary War. She also attended the Hoosick history fair in mid-May.
Financial
Bills from the Town Clerk — $704,972.77. To approve the bills from the Town Clerk’s Scheduled Payment Report dated June 10, 2026. Resolution: Fogarty · Second: Rustin · Ayes: All · Nays: None.
New highway truck — $294,981.92. To approve spending $294,981.92 from the DB845.04 highway reserve for a new truck (incl. DB51302.04 for cost). Resolution: Ward · Second: Akin · Ayes: All · Nays: None.
Public comment
- Two Pleasantdale residents said the neighboring property that had previously generated concerns has been fairly quiet.
- Town Attorney Dave Brennan discussed a proposed draft noise ordinance, limited to the hamlet districts, that he will present to the Town Board for review and consideration. (Speigletown is one of the town’s hamlet districts.)
